I forgot to introduce myself. My name is David and I live in the Smoke. My parents, Maddie and Az, used to work as doctors for special circumstances. However when they learned that the operations caused brain lesions, they stopped working and ran away. I definitely think that it was the right thing to do. You can't know if a brain lesion will occur or not. These operations are brutal. As I told Tally "You can't know for sure how something like this will work. It is only a one-percent chance, but it could screw up her brain forever”(Westerfeld 393). Government convinced everyone that the operation is the best and only choice. Everyone thinks that there is no other option than this. The government always shows the positive sides and hides the dark vicious secrets about the brain damage. It’s the fact. However people are accustomed to live like this. People also think that if you don’t take the operation, you are going to be ignored and will be left out from the society. This idea makes people think that they are obliged to take the operation.
As my last words, I want to say that this operation is literally grinding my gears. I can’t stand the idea that people getting their brain damaged with their own wills. Why are they letting the government use them as their puppets? This needs to stop and we will do it together.Citation:
